About the Memory Cloud

Why has Marie Curie created the Memory Cloud?

The people we lose live on through the memories we have created together. We have developed Memory Cloud, a safe and easy-to-use online tool, to help you save those important memories and share them with your friends and family.

Who can use the site?

The site has been created for anyone to remember a lost friend or family member and share those memories – you don’t need to have experienced the support of Marie Curie or our services. We do however offer free to anyone who feels they need someone to talk to, as we know sharing memories of lost loved ones can be difficult.

Will you be adding more functionality to Memory Cloud in the future?

While we’re very proud of Memory Cloud, it is still in its infancy. We have lots of ideas to make this experience even better and we welcome your feedback and ideas as to what you would like to be able to do on the site. This might be adding video or voice messages, being able to navigate through pages, or even being able to download images and order physical photo albums from a person’s page. If you have any thoughts or comments, please contact us at memorycloud@mariecurie.org.uk.

What’s the difference between sharing my page publicly vs privately?

You have the option to make the page you create publicly viewable. This means people will be able to find it in the Explore section, however they won’t be able to add anything to it.

Or you can make the page private meaning that only people who you’ve shared the link with will be able to see it.

On the confirmation page during the creation process a link will be provided that will allow you to share the page and enable others to add content to it.

Can I amend my page after completion?

Yes, there is a link to request a one-off URL – which will be emailed to you – to amend content already added to the page. The email address used must match the one used when initially created.

Why are you asking for my contact preferences?

We ask for these preferences so you can choose to opt in to receive email communications and Marie Curie. If you choose to opt in we will contact you from time to time about the service and other ways of getting involved and helping us provide a better end of life experience for others.

What will happen to my data?

Data will be stored securely by Marie Curie. We don’t share data or content with anyone else. If you have opted into marketing emails we will contact you from time to time about services and content Marie Curie offer, but will not use your data in any other way.

Why do you ask for donations?

Memory Cloud is free to use and always will be. However, Marie Curie aims to improve services offered to people living with a terminal illness and their families. Donations contribute towards us being able to provide nurses for home visits, fund our hospices across the country, keep the Bereavement Support Line open, print our Information and Support booklets and support the many other services we provide. Your donations help make all of this possible and allow us to continue our work.
